My MK1 (South African <1999 1.8 Carb) just won't fire. Please Assist guys.

How do you know if your immobiliser (Control Unit Siemens - 5wk4678) is the one causing the problem. Can you test this on the ECU?

Hey guys, my car was messed up by rodents while i left it parked for sometime at home in Mthatha. The wiring to the rear of the car was messed up. I asked a mechanic who fixed it but it only ran for two days(approx 130 km) and never started again. The car refused to start on a very rainy day last year and that was it.

I replaced the coil, ecu without luck. Checked the wirring under dashboard without any luck. I left it standing for sometime till yesterday when I had a look again.

I did the following voltage tests

ECU
1.  Pin 2 & 4 = 11.02 v   (with ignition on, which means wirring to ecu is ok)
2.  Pin 3 & 6 = alternates between 0 & 11.95 v (when turning the engine to its normal direction, which means hall sender (distributer) is working)

Hall Sender
1 . Pin 1 & 3 = 11.02 v (that again told me that the ecu is performing its job)

Coil
1. Pin 1 & Earth = 11.02 v

Unfortunately the car still wont start, plz guys assist, what could be the problem. I will post rusty pictures soon, still struggling with technology.

Hei guys the car fired like hell. I think I had two problems, the mobiliser was flooded with water hat finds way in through bottom edges of windscreen. Also the pin 3 ecu to 1 hall sender was broken. And another problem is that the ECU I bought, I guess its from chiness. It sending incorrect power. I fitted back the original.

Ouch , this afternoon while working on putting back pieces of interior, the car refused to start again, this was after I let it run for about 30 min.
The issue now is that the starter turns very slow or won't turn at all. And it drains the battery with jst abt 4 tries.
I even tried jump starting with no luck, instead I could even hear sound changing drastically as if the other car is gonna stall.
What could be the problem now?

if the battery is really knackered it will drain all the power from the jumping car, sounds like this is the case here. get the battery checked out then see how it is
