Lights not working!

Have acquired a G-reg Caddy - which is, apparently, a Mk1 Golf from the doors forward, so I hope that qualifies me to ask for some help!

It's a 1600 diesel and has done 120K miles.

The electrics that run the engine things (sorry for being so technical!) work but the lights, front and rear don't!

It's had a tow-bar fitted at some stage, so I think that may have cuased the problem.  All wires to that are cut now.

I've checked all the wires and fuses and cleaned and reseated them where I can.  I've also replaced all the bulbs with new ones.

I have

1) all indicators and hazard lights work

2) one front sidelight works, the other doesn't

3) dipped headlightits - neither work

4)  fulll beam - both work

5) rear sidelights - one work Ok, the other works but goes out when brake applied!

6) N/S brake light works, O/S doesn't

7) O/S reverse light work, N/S doesn't

I've swapped some fuses from my Mk2 to replace those that were missing from the fuse box

Can anyone suggest where I should start looking for faults?  And where I will find an on-line fusebox and wiring diagram?

I'm hoping to get it sorted for Edition 38 at the weekend…..

grab yourself a haynes manual they normally have pretty good diagrams 15 quid from halfords loads of other stuff that you will find usefull as well.
