Chrome grill trim

Hi everyone,
So I bought a grill that came with a chrome trim on it, the trim turns out to be an original VW one as it's stamped up and the sausage who owned it before me have put screw through it to fix the grill to the car so now the trim has screw holes is there anyway to repair as I don't really want to throw away an original piece

I can't remember, is it an aluminium trim or steel?

If it's steel, then personally, I would solder the holes, rub them back and then either spray it with crome paint or get it re-chromed (I don't know if the solder would take the chrome or not???)

If it's Aluminium, I'm not really sure, maybe fill the holes and use chrome spray paint?

One things for sure, I doubt you'd want to weld the holes up in either material unless you are a very good welder.

Hope it helps, but this is a best guess rather than an informed opinion.

I think there aluminium mate, maybe I'll look for some sort of ally filler then re paint, can't let a genuine piece be ruined by idiots haha

Yeah, I suppose if it's ali, it will only be a chrome paint anyway.
