Wolfsburg steering wheel refurb ideas

I have the 3 spoke Wolfsburg steering wheel where the spokes are made in aluminium. I will be having the wheel retrimmed in Nappa leather by MJ interiors  ( most likely) Before I send it to them, I want the aluminium looking its best. Anyone know have to get it look as good as new?

send it out for re polishing, look up metal refinishers.

You sure its aluminium?

 I might be wrong but I would say its plated steel.

just to follow up on the type of metal, i just tried a magnet on it and it sticks so its not aluminium,

Off to the platers for reverse plating, polish then new chrome plate.

 Hi, could I ask how much you paid for the leather trim and re-plate of the steering wheel please. Have one that I'm keen to do exactly the same refurb on.  

For aluminium I use ever smoother sandpaper down to about 1500 grit.then mothers aluminium and metal polish. It's amazing stuff bring that aluminium and other metals like brand new
