Hi

Took my clocks out and noticed this red wire looks like it's been wired in. Is it meant to be there?

Has someone wired this in themselves for stereo maybe?

Black/yellow tied to the red well IIRC the black and yellow is for the Defroster.

Both big lugs have black and yellow so attach it to the one that is disconnected.  Little ones are for the lamp

The Defroster switch is a common place to pick up switched 12v for the radio, as that is where I got mine from.


What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

I just bought a new cluster because my old cluster on my VW MK one Chico 1994 model does not have a rev counter on it so I just bought a new one with a rev counter and installed it but the rev counter is not working

Look at your connector on the cluster (clocks). The main connector t14/5 should be a red/black wire that goes to the fuel pump relay pin 5/1 for the input.

 I would start by telling the year of your car and the model of it as well as the year of gauges you bought.

Verify that you have B+ on the black wire to the connector pin t14/14 and Brown on t14/2 that goes to frame or earth.

You can also try adding a ground splice from the connector side of pin2 to the frame behind the cluster and plump up your connector.

Wire help

Should my fuel gauge go up when I turn ignition on or just when car is running ?.

I only get handbrake light on

The fuel gauge should work with the ignition switched on. The warning lights for oil pressure and charging should activate also,
