I usually used Never-seize a-lot.  But when I went for it last couple of days I noticed that it had been holed and dried up. So off to the store
to buy new.  I mean I was a little miffed as the jar was but half empty, and well it was the second jar that I had bought in 20 years…..6 years or so ago when I lost track of my almost empty one.

So the reason for the Thanks…. Ya'll have been calling it copper grease, same thing so I thought.
My typical brand was Aluminum based, and I have had good results.

So I saw a bottle of Copper Grease….and well I read the labels.

Good for up to 2000 degrees…
Aluminum was up to 1600…

Well I'll added that to my retinue of greasy things.  I bought both, as I had some high heat areas and wanted the extra degree of comfort pardon the pun.

But for the rest of my aluminum parts that are @ 300 degrees I will stay with my Aluminium based.

And a lack of anti-seize on the lower rear shock bolt or mummification as I like to do it since 1984….makes for a difficult time Save for a Sawzall or a torch.

 No anti-seize

After 5 years on the car mummified…. Apply never-seize to bolt, Wrap with Teflon tape, and apply more never-seize insert and drive off happily.

Here is the Same bolt removed, and unwrapped to inspect after 5 years.

Another trick I learned was that the Bushing in the middle of the mount on my replacements was a Split type,  So I rotated the bushing in the strut so that the split was down pointing, I figure that water if seeping in to it would tend to drain out if the split was at the bottom… I does make chaning the rear shocks more enjoyable…and lessens the Swearing..

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
