Repair panel quality

Hi

I need to get a couple of repair panels as the rust has started to show through around the right rear wheel arch, at present i think i will need a small patch in front of the arch and the rear quarter patch as well.

I see VW Heritage sell the Klokkerholm panels, are these any good or can anyone recommend good quality panels.

Thanks

Andy

many people slate the repair panels, as not a straight bolt on replacement. but its possible to adjust to get a close fit. or you could cut and patch new to old .
How bad is it?

Rear repair panel I got from vwh was useless, steel was so thin, was about 2" too big and the ends weren't folded around so just scrapped it. Ended up just making patches from scratch

Some of the klocker panels are pretty poor . The full sill is awful as it doesnt have the correct detail below the door. the rear arch stuff is probably going to need fettling regardless. Its best to cut as little out as you can get away with and use only what you really need to of the replacement. Theres not a lot of alternatives out there unfortunately.

Thank you for your replies, I hear what you are saying.

Paul who will be doing the work is a real genius with restoration work and is used to the poor quality of replacement panels and will only cut out the bare minimum of bad metal.

The work will not be done until Christmas so plenty of time to look around for some parts.

The arches are not too bad to work with if you're an experienced body worker.

I bought a Klockerwhatever scuttle panel and ended up cutting it up for sections it was so bad. The best pattern wings are poor, and take some skill and experience to make them work.
