Removing number plate plate from historic vehicle

Post

I own a historic Morris minor that's no longer fit for the road but I'd like to keep the number plate. The car is MOT exempt but has to have one in order to put the plate on a retention certificate.
Any way round this ?

AFAIK no, not if its been more than a certain period of time since it was last taxed/MoT'd

Not legally.
Friendly garage who trusts you the scrap it after transfer. V dodgy
Buy a moggy and take it on on fake plates and chassis number. V dodgy
Bribe a government official. Probably the the most dodgy of all.

I would get more creative but it’s late.

Get it MOT'd?

Is it that bad? Thought moggies were like old minis and escorts and could be resurrected no matter how bad they were?

I checked the DVLA form and it says MOT cert if appropriate.
I would call them to check. If it is being scrapped then it may be able to be transferred.

Good luck.

Yeah it's a getting scrapped unfortunately. Although it's old enough not to need an MOT it's got to have an MOT to remove the plate. Ridiculous really as I own it

Is the plate a special one or merely age-related to the Moggie?

It's a non age plate, three numbers then three letters
