instrument cluster

Hi All... Does anyone know if the 1983 GTi MK1 instrument cluster is the same as the early MK2?

It's the same shape and will physically fit, though I think there are some differences. Speedo's read different on some 120MPH vs 140MPH for example.

Mount points are totally different, and it may have the single or dual loom connectors I have a 16V Mk2 one fitted in my mk1, I grafted the mk1 mounts on to the mk2 unit and wired the dual connectors into the mk1 loom. Everything works including the MFA, I did use early mk2 stalks with the MFA switch as well

aye as lhasa says, they dont fit or plug straight in some mods and wire splicing is required
