Fuel Pump Layout

Hi All….. Need a bit of help as I’ve forgotten how the fuel pump is laid out and thought I’d taken pictures but didn’t.

Haynes manual doesn’t really show bracket and pump housing and accumulator so any help really appreciated then I can get the tank and axle back on!

year and model helps.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

The inlet to the pump from the tank looks a bit of a stretch and the jubilee only just hanging on?

Yes sadly since it's not a peirburg pump the inlet is slightly bigger making pipe tight to fit.. the jubilee is clamped on the raised flange..and hose is trapped. I'm more concerned with accumulator to pump pipe that sits at terrible angles but was same with original too. It's a while since changed fuel tank so cant remember if was different.  Before… it's working at the moment and not whining.. have 2 rubber bushes fitted instead of 1 now.. maybe when I get chance I'll put up on ramp and align better.. but I'm not rolling around on ground pulling fuel hoses anymore.. 😗

Cheers for the pics Kenneth - know what you mean about the pipes and angles and totally agree better to play with on the ramps and not struggling on jacks and stands!!

Will put some pics up when I've rebolted mine back in place

Looking at the pics will the entire pump/housing not move back a bit?

The original was a bit of bodge, it never having been designed from scratch for a Golf but rather made up as they went aong using Audi GTE KJet gubbins.

No mate the new housing fits to the bracket close to accumulator..and then over to the bolt point near inlet ,the bolts are seized accumulator side without grinding out the bracket remains where was for last 27yrs.

Well got back to the garage today and time to tackle the pump!

Took a bit of head scratching and re-positioning but got it back in place and ready for the fuel tank tomorrow and rear axle.

So a few pics of todays work - And a bit of brake pipe flaring for nice shiny new brakes!

NICE goes in easier without rest of car there.
I would try changing hoses too, unless you know are new fuel ready…. i'm aware mine are due to be changed.
