Head Lamp Wiring Upgrade Help

Post

Hi I have 1989 Clipper and added  a headlamp wiring upgrade,  but been advised  the dim/dip relay needs to be removed as it will adversely effect the modification - question is where can I located this relay ?

If you are talking about re-laying the head lights?

No you are using the 2 new relays to directly power the lamps.  You are going to use the headlight wires to pick your new relays that are powering the headlights
Everything else remains the same.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

There is no difference between they way they worked in the 80's or 90's

here is the 89 diagram, there is no relay for dipping.

Here is my upgraded 3 relay, that allow all the filaments to get power on "hi"-beam.

You can find kits on ebay or amazon dirt cheap, just be sure the on you buy ones that state they have ceramic sockets.

You will actually take a high current load off the headlight switch gives it longer life, as well as increase the voltage of the lamp which makes it brighter (we know it is really increasing the current).

With all three on it is really really bright.

Reminded me in my youth, when I drove an 67MG Midget.  I had quartz halogen Cibies in the main, and quarts halogen fog pair, and a driving light pair inside my grille.  When the jerks would leave their hi's on when coming up behind me The Old fashioned incandescents of the 70's.. as soon as I was passed, I gave them about 1,000,000 watts of bright white and yellow beams… A few of them swerved when the light hit them.  I think some of them learned. ( I used to do a lot of Ralley driving in the middle of farm country at night….they were the funnest so I needed more light.  I had more fuses on my lights than the rest of the car… I had 2 fuses in the car.
Changing over I had fuses for my Cibie conversions and my Driving and Fogs total of 6.

I also had a friend of my fathers upgrade the generator a wee bit back then as well.
