So in the next 12 to 18 months I must move house. That means I need to raise 30k. Ideally more but this is a bare minimum.
So the GTI is gonna have to go either this or next spring.
Let’s have a game of what is it worth.
Guaranteed insurance value of 20k.
1980 1.6 GTI with bolt on upgrades such as exhaust, rear disc conversion, new fuel tank, 4 branch manifold but basically running similar to standard GTI. Have a set of BBS RA’s as well as the fitted Konig Elan wheels.
Tax abs MOT exempt as registered historic.
So I believe I can get £15k for it. What do you think ? Am I too high or too low?
Several owners, about 8 and actual miles about 120k. Lots of history but no where near complete. Receipts from me adding up to about £8k over the past 5 years.
Thoughts?

I think 15k is top end personally considering it has a glass sunroof and incomplete history. Looks a lovely example otherwise and I don’t think you’re far off re price, good luck

Looks lovely. But the aftermarket roof as said will kill the value for many.
You may get lucky, but I'd see 15k as too high personally. I reckon if you want it to sell, that's a 9-10k car. Please don't take offence to that.

Can't help thinking you'd have been better keeping it original as this would have both saved cash and increased its value.
(aware it's your car and it's up to you how and what you spend your time and money on)

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
