Have you seen the mk1 golfs on ebay by scammers i believe, check out their other items for sale, all at very low prices. I think this is the 3rd time they have been on there..

Must be some money in it as they seem to be doing it on all cars, not just mk1's.

Nasty, horrible word, type people!

ebay is utter rubbish. The Sunday papers had an article saying that a few years ago ebay was an internet tour-de-force and now its being eaten alive by Amazon and Facebook market place.

These scams have been going on for years and should be easy to spot for a decent automated AI system, same pics, daft prices etc etc.

A few months ago I had a rant on here about it taking me half a day in mortal combat with their system to list 3 or 4 items, it was almost as if it was designed to be so awkward and slow to put you off and just list it on FB in about 2 mins.

Then people leave you totally unwarranted negative feedback, you flag this up with ebay and don't even get a reply back and then on top of that they charge a FO pricing structure. It happened to Wordstar, Lotus, Espon, Compaq, Ericsson etc etc  no one in IT is too big to fail but their complacent greedy CEOs never realise until its too late

Agree about trying to list items now, used to be so easy..

Good shout on here to protect others!  Dont use ebay any more due to the variety of reasons Early-1800 mentions.  I'm finding Amazon going the same way though with cheap foreign rubbish that lasts 5 minutes.

Again if it's too good to true it's usually fake.  Sadly ebay and moderators seem to be reluctant to remove the dodgy people. .. theres 1 ebay seller listing 2500 cars classics… b××××××t  should be easy to get rid of them but doesn't create site hits

I've never had a problem with anything from eBay, think you just have to have your wits about you.

I requested info for a Mk1 advertised on Gumtree a few months ago, should have known better as it looked too nice for the money but I hadn't seen the pic before.  Got an e-mail from Gumtree a few days later saying I may have inadvertently passed info to a scammer.  Thankfully, I hadn't given them any other info than an e-mail address to contact me with more details and photos.

Haha that's just tempting fate.. I've had issues first 15yrs ago. Then ok …. then in past year I've had fake purchases made, lost items, stolen Ids ,and lots of winning bidders failing to pay or collect.

Not sure if its a conning plan or some simple imbecilic Welshman that can't place his products in the correct category but the classic car section is now full of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-Vitara-SZ-T-ONLY-AND-SAT-NAV-FREE-MOTS-AS-LONG-AS-YOU-OWN-THE-CAR/383441840677?hash=item5946ea2a25:g:~tsAAOSwm1deRtWP

I have reported every single one of his adverts in the last month 😂

Whoever it is has a lot of time on their hands

And as I'm trawling for bits for my Mk1 i just press the "report" button and tell eBay it's fraudulent as half the cars are recent eBay sales!

One of them was the black and orange Mk1 with toy story mural on the rear quarter panel which sold a few months back

Oh and the Mk1 that was built onto a TT running gear and chassis

I mean how dumb is this guy? It's Mk1 escorts, bikes, vans and all sorts of classics

all ebay sellers surely cannot be bad or do the
buyers also contribute to the bad felling of the
ebay site

There is definitely some dodgy ones out there. I'm not the best seller of stuff I seem to take ages to post. But I dont try selling what I dont have unlike the persons in first few posts.

Take care and where possible try to PayPal not at freinds function..and try see big expensive items.

I dont follow my advice although I should at times. Stung a few times myself

I sell a lot on eBay, still a bigger audience than anywhere else imo. All my cars sell through there too.

Scam car ads are very easy to spot, just annoying when you're trying to browse classics on a Sunday evening, and 10 squillion of the bastards have just been listed.

Ebay is a hateful place for sellers. The moment they took away the right for sellers to leave neg feedback that was it for me. Plus the way they side with buyers is completely unfair, I used to see quite a lot of musical instruments and stuff and the amount of times a buyer would message me on receipt with a made up problem and invite me to refund them a few quid to make them go away was unreal, they knew if I didn't play along they would request a refund from Ebay and that would happen no questions asked

I haven't used it in years, don't trust it any more.
