Hi guys had my 1990 1.8 cabriolet dyno tuned yesterday it's a 1.8 carb version automatic. Ex engine code.
It was 66kw from the factory around 88bhp yesterday after 29 years of use with the original engine it ran 106.2 bhp .really pleased with that. Who needs a gti lol

Hi mark yes I was pleased with that .
Stainless manifold
Ramair direct filter
Weber 32/43dtml
New performance leads
New distributor etc
That's all I can think mate…
But to be fair the guy i use is a genius. People come from far and wide for his skills.. he does touring cars..full race spec porsches etc .he used to tune for dub sport. Dont know if anyone remembers the mk3 golf the w12 v6 in the front v6 in the back .it was dubsports flagship car.. he set that up and got it right for them. These were in when I got there … Hes a good guy to know [emoji106][emoji106]

Was that a baby blue one ? I seem to remember something like that and the real trick was even power delivery from both engines and transmissions. Also seem to remember a really complicated bit clever wire based gear linkage that changed gear on both boxes at the same time.

I am trying to remember a max power article from about 1996 ish I think when I was a wee college scroat

Haha. That’s the one. How on earth did I remember that. Has to be 20 plus years and it’s still in the grey matter some how. Wonder if it is still alive.

I remember that car debut at Gti international at the Trl

Along with UFO the orange mk1 golf

there was such a greater wealth of people back then that created some unique VW's

In fact i probably have original PVW\The Golf/Vw magazines articles on them boxed up and tucked away safely in my loft

Cars have come a long way since then but the engineering is still to be admired

If he worked for Dubsport then he will know Ian Birch for sure

Yes he does know him told me the full story of how his son took over and basically ran the company into the ground. no new innovation just got lazy and consequently dubsport went from a profitable cutting edge company to a dead in the water place that lost money and had to close down …
Well done back in black its stored on the hard drive in your mind done where lol .I would love the pvw with that one in mate .I read it myself [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

I'm not to far from there so I might keep him in mind when I eventually get my GTi back up and running. It will definitely need a good tune up.

My rebuild thread I will try and keep up to date: here
