My earliest memory of dads (RIP) car was a mk1 escort estate in blue, it was an absolute banger. He would wedge a brick on the pedal to stop if cutting out even when putting petrol in it. We would have to bump start it every day but fortunately lived on a hill. Thinking about it now it probably needed a new battery and a good service but this was in the days of white dog poop and money was tight! Other than that I remember him racing a train in it down the Acle straight after a day at Yarmouth beach so we must have hit best part of 70ish after about 5 minutes of solid acceleration that day.
He then progressed enough a work to get company cars, probably the best was a white Audi 80 Sport with go-fast black and red stripes down the side. I'm fairly sure it had stop/start technology as well. By the time I could drive he had a Mk1 MR2 as a company car and that was a death trap for a fairly new driver like me, very.twitchy back end.
