Back under the car after some time off for bad behaviour

Spent the first full day under my golf for some years today. Managed to replace a whole section of brake line. Can't say it wasn't without challenges but thought I'd pop on here and say hi again after a long time away.
I'm fairly sure that that it's been the first time the Golf has had a whole day's attention since my daughter was born in 2009. Great to see that the forums are still going strong, and it's so nice to be back (and smelling of Swarfega).

I did a similar thing with an old Beetle I drove it for 6 years, planned a restoration then the kids arrived in 2011 and 2012, I stripped it all down but decided to sell the bug and realised a sorted 82 Cab was a better option with just enough little jobs to keep me content, I thought it would be nice to have something I could actually drive!  Just got the car on Sunday and the forums have been really handy!  Good luck with the work.

Welcome back.  Think it just happens to us all bud.  I've been away for 5 maybe 6 years and only just getting time back like yourself.  Good feeling when you see the site is still here and it looks good.  Glad you are back 👍

Me too - been off for yonks.
Just not had chance to seriously get stuck into restoration. Either busy with work, kids, weather poor, dark nights, needing parts, waiting for friend with welder.

Now got to undersealing and looking to spray engine bay then get on with re-assembling ☺️☺️

Bengti - you got pics of the car mate?  I bet you get roped back into family stuff like us all mate.  I've started telling the wife in advance and putting it in the calendar now.  Found this helps or time gets booked & before I know it I'm at a kids birthday party or summit random.  Doing oil, oil filter change and the rear hatch gas strut next Saturday.. all book in the calendar 😁.

Adolf - looks like a fair bit of work mate.  Reassembly is sole destroying but addictive at the same time.
