Description:Description:OK h ere goes this is a tax and mot exempt 90%restored 1983 mk1 golf gti 1.8 intop this project started earlier last year she was stripped down to a bare shell and put onto a rotisserie so everything was easily accessible all cancer was cut out and replaced with new panels and parts these consisted of new full floors front and back sills both sides rear chassis sections to both sides cut out and replaced new rear arches new front wings and full new front panel all engine bay blasted back to bare metal all underneath and engine bay epoxy primed and underneath totally undercoat and fresh paint underneath is like new with new fuel tank and straps rear axle stripped and rebuild with new bushings full new rear drums bearings pads brake cables new fuel filler neck new pump also up front new calipers new disks pads bottom arms ball joints and full new stance adjustable coilovers new rear lights new front single grill with new drl lights fitted in original light holders so can be easily adjustable new front windscreen with blue top visor all other windows are tinted in the lightest smoke looks awesome ря'CE rear 3 peice zender roof spoiler not authentic she is sat on 16 inch shmids deep dish wheels with brand new tyres will need arches modified or wheels changed or ride hight higher as wheels rub arches when over bumps exhaust is a new twin dtm style and is central exit with stainless steel 4 branch manifold wich leads to the engine originally I was going down the r32 route but decided to go with the original 1.8 gti so engine and box was totally stripped down to be rebuilt consisting of new bottom end crank bearings new piston rings full reconditioned head new valve seats guide buckets valves pretty much brand new head all new gasket set for complete engine new clutch and all parts stripped down cleaned and painted. as you can see she has undergone a lot of work time parts and money to save another historic golf from going to her grave but after all this work and time I have come to the conclusion that after my 1st golf back when I was 18 and realised its not how I remembered it although she's as beautiful as my 1st golf back then I can't see me driving as she should be so regrettably let someone else have the joy of her as stated from the start i would say she is 90% complete although she is totally up and running and driving things that still need to be addressed are although she has full new brakes I don't recall them being this bad ря¤" lol so I would suggest a new 16v master cylinder and servo to help a better feeling of the braking although I put 2 brand new front wings on the passenger side is a really bad fitting and would benefit from either an original or another as with the rear exit exhaust the spare wheel had to be deleted as I was just going to blank it with a new blank but whoever ends up her can make that decision apart from that it's just down to finishing her of with bits that's still needed like bonnet cables door light switches and little things like that as I stated she is registered in my name and is registered as tax and mot exempt .no doubt I have forgotten lots of stuff but any questions please feel free to contact me.
