V OLKSWAGEN GOLF MK 1 GL 1983 Mileage: 174k:  V5 Logbook present

After much deliberation and the current financial climate I have decided to sell my beloved Golf names Eccle (see the number plate)

I have had the car since 2018 I think or 2017 cant really remember now. It sat in a friends workshop for two years having bits and bobs done to it and I eventually had it returned to me in between the lock-downs so enjoyment in it was curtailed somewhat.

I have tried to get the vehicle back to stock by fitting original wheels with brand new tyres all round. The wheels have been powder coated.

New white headlining fitted a couple of years ago.

Standard shocks have also been fitted replacing the adjustable ones that did not adjust and the ride height was so low it used to bottom out over sleeping policemen etc.

The rear wings were replaced as they had rotted, a common fault.

I had fully intended to put it back to stock and have all the parts needed to do this.

Included in the sale are original Larger water bottles to cope with the headlight washers, new tail gate lock with key and interior courtesy light spare unit.

Original hub caps and clips which can easily be fitted.

The interior is the rare brown colour and has benefited from a recent full valet by a local company. The rear parcel shelf is original but has seen better days I think it can be repaired and made good again.

The only non standard bit of the car which cannot be replaced is the aftermarket MK 2 Golf sunroof. Which is fully working and makes that extra difference when driving.

The exterior is in very good condition with little rust and is finished in Siena Red.

I will also include the extensive service history of the car and the birth certificate which I purchased from Volkswagen at Wolfsburg which told me the manufacturing date 27/10/82 and delivery date as 01/11/82 to Grimsby.

Unfortunately the car was first UK registered 28/01/83 and therefore cannot be changed to historic until 2024.

The engine has not been modified and is a solid good honest block that would need a good clean and buff up if you so wish. The car also comes with the rare extra Sports 5 speed gear box which enhances the whole driving experience.

The car is currently SORN and needs a new battery to start.

I am looking for £4500 ono as I believe this car is a genuine honest example and will just keep going up in value.

Viewing is always welcome and so is offers however if your offer is ridiculous you will be met with a good old fashioned belly laugh.

I have tried to be as honest as I can but I am no mechanic or consider myself an authority on the vehicle. I will try and answer all the questions I can and be transparent as possible.

Thank you for your time.

you can use the VW cerificate to get DVLA to update the year of manufacture to 1982 and become Historic/Tax free vehicle

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
