on hold/sold

I really dont want to have to sell my car…

so…  the car….

it is a series one, which is easily distinguishable by the smaller rear lights, old style dash, different seatbelts (which everyone finds cool) and a couple of other bits like different fusebox.
from new it has done just over 60,000 miles and i have enough service history to back this up! it was built in 1979 and registered in early 1980 (i think it was new years day to be precise!!) so at 30 years old 60k is amazing!!
it has a 1.1 engine with a 4speed gearbox, over the past 6 months its had a new alternator, waterpump, headgasket, and carb. it does run nicely and up until i got the beemer i was using it as a daily driver!
as you can see from the pictures it has been lowered on some bbs wheels which all have very good tires on. It has coilovers (i cant remember the make but they are not the cheap hottuning ones!) it has front upper and lower strutbraces, before i fitted them the car was very bumpy and you could feel the chassis flex, but now it is alot nicer to drive even if still a little bumpy!!
The standard breaks on these are shocking (i still have them if the buyer wants, but i would warn against!!) so i have upgraded the front to gti spec. There is no servo on the smaller mk1s so they still do need a good pump!!
mechanically the car is great, but the bodywork could do with a bit of a tart up! its all sound underneath as far as i can see, it had a little bit of welding for the last mot which could do with a little bit of a tart up but never really bothered me! ive got a new pair of front wings that could go with the car as a bonus! it does need a couple of other bits of love but on a whole is solid!!

as it stands now it has about 6 months mot and tax, but i cant see anything that would stop it getting through another mot! for the last one in december it had the little bit of welding and 'front brake imbalance' but all is fine now with the gti kit!

now for the pics!!

and service history -

originally sold to a guy in worthing so has been pretty local to me all its life!!

As i said, i dont need to sell it, so i will be pretty firm on price and i would like to see £2300 for it.
