WILL PORSCHE SEATS FIT?

Hey all,

Need a new front seats for my 82 GTI. Does anyone know if a 1973 on Beetle seat base is the same as the MK1. The fitment looks the same & if it is I can get some Beetle universal subframes. I'm looking at 944 or 911 seats. If there are any other suggestions on how they will fit it will be much appreciated.

I always though beetle runners were rather different, but then I'm not really all that clued up on details like that for beetles.. I'm sure someone else here will know but if not you couls always try volkszone: http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/

your other option if you're up for a little welding/fabrication is to mod some mk1, mk2, corrado or scirocco (the last two sit lower than the golf ones) frames by cutting and rewelding etc. to make them fit

I actually started this once, and it went fairly easily, I started off with a knackered mk1 seat, chopped the frame about abit and had it trial fitted - it sat quite a bit too high, so I though I'd try some corrado seats (I could probably have just kept cutting/modding the mk1 frame but….) so picked up some water damaged ones from a scrappy I chucked them in the car to see how they fitted and they kinda stayed there! ops:    never got round to finishing off the porsche ones :roll: and sold them on a little while ago..

anyway I don't reckon it'll be too hard if you've got access to an angle grinder and a welder :wink:  8)
