Rust spots

Hello,

My campaign had a re-spray about 4 years ago. It has recently started to show spots of rust in various areas, mainly around the edge of the doors.

At this stage they are very small and the rust  will virtually all come off if I rub it with a finger nail.

Could somebody please suggest the best way to treat these areas. I am concerned that if I leave them they will spread and become harder to shift. I am also keen to avoid any need for re-spaying.

I vaguely remember reading an advert for a paint on solution that chemically alters the rust and stops it speading. Does anyone have any info/views on this?

A good respray should give more than 4 years service . If the paint is flaking then proper attention is required , but if it was me i would pop to Halfords and look at the paint and rust section and see whats available to keep it at bay for the time being .

Try Kurust - will stop it spreading until you get a long term solution. Halfords sell it. Works fine.

Chemicals may slow it down but eradication is the only way to stop it.
