Mk1 Campaign Golf Ball Gear Knob
Hi All,
After a bit of fact hunting here. My gear knob had cracked and broken and needs relacing. I have the one which has numbers 1 to 5 on it. When I went to my VW main dealer, I was told the one I should have has an E (Economy) where 5th is.
What I want to know is which gear knob I should have by seeing what all you toher campaign owners have!!
All help greatly appreciated!!
Cheers

The knob with the 4 + E is not golf ball shaped, the golf ball one is obsolete now im afraid. Trimsport do a silver one or bide your time on ebay

I would guess at that being a SA knob - as far as I know four speeds here had only the ball with no gate information.

You can take them apart.
The clear bit fits into a slot in the rubber ball bit.
Inside is a black round disc with the gate pattern drawn on in silver.
I have a five speed one which currently resides in the my old dial phone!
So if you can get hold of the ball and clear plastic bit you can put whatever you like in there.
Picture of the wife perhaps?

Yeah if you can find a spare.
If you tighten the knob too much it pushes the plastic insert up through the knob and splits it.
Ow.
