I've been on the coal front today!

I've been on the coal front today- well looking at my face in the mirror…..

Spent the day stripping standard springs from a 1600 gti, the bolts where a pig. I noticed that the front springs were black with a blue mark and the rear black with a yellow mark, what does that mean?
