There could be a few causes:
1. The winder mech tube is full of dirt - clean it out and apply WD40
2. The winder mech tube is bent (from say an accident) - you could try and bend it back or just get a decent used one.
3. The window is not sitting correctly in the rubber channel on the winder - reposition in the channel by putting the glass in fairly loose and winding up to find the correct position by centralising itself. Then push the glass firmly into the rubber channel.
Either way the door card will have to come off but not too difficult. Make sure you have a decent waterproof membrane before refitting the door card.

It makes a loud band and then goes up fully, taking the door card off is really easy, just a series of press-in clips and a few obvious screws. But having removed it i still can't see the prob, perhaps i will have a look this weekend and take a few photo's for you to have a look at the general area behind the door card.
