Hey TotR!

Just been havin a look through and found this post of yours from end of last year - did you have any joy with the arch protectors? I need a set for my black Sportline, and I have a friend with a red Clipper who needs some too! Was looking at the ones that Trimsport do but they look to be solid black. There's also a dude on Ebay over in the States that does them as part of a seal kit for the arches and side skirts which I have also been contemplating, but if I could get dotty ones like the originals that would be  8)

Hi guys.. The arch protectors were made of a rubberised vinyl. This made them more resistant to stone chips and easier to lay on areas which change in shape due to the stretch advantage over the normal vinyl. Some companies do thick vinyl and market this as stone chip protection, which it is of course.. But it is not the same stuff as is needed to shape to the contours of the mk1 cab rear arch. I am sure there are a few super heroes out there who have managed it with a hairdryer etc etc, but I tried it with removable vinyl again and again and again.. So… If you are going to buy and try some of the replica ones, make sure that whoever made them has actually fitted some, because as yet, I have not found anything suitable.. Hope this helps..  :)

Also keen to replace mine so would interested to hear of a price ?

Also the skin that covers the side skirts on my clipper is peeling on one side - anyone know: what this is called / how it is replaced / from where ?

Lots of questions i know (and from a novice) but looking to get it ready for summer !

just recieved the side sickers and pleased with them, have added a couple of pictures above the one on the left is the one from Volkswarenhaus and the one on the right from e-bay.

as you can see the german on has less dots per square inch but is a better fit also it is a much 'thicker' vinyl slightly ruberised vinyl not sure what the originals where like.

against the e-bay one the german ones are head a shoulders above in qualitiy

Have fitted them to the car and will be at stanford hall at the weekend hopefully, in the concours section class 14 (blue rivage)
