Changin the hood

Hi,

I want to change the hood on my 1.8GLi,  can anyone recommend a good supplier, should I change the cables and the inner liner.   Is it a job I can do myself, or even better, get my husband to do?

Many thanks.

Hi there,
These guys below supply a lot of the fitting companies I believe.

And the prices are reasonable too.
It depends on the condition of the hood, padding and the head lining.
There is a guide on here to fitting the hood.
The headliner means you have to strip the whole lot down to the bare frame.
It can be done, but is time consuming, it can take a trained fitter a whole day to do a top replacement, so take your time, perhaps photo bits as you go along and take a few notes. Oh and plenty of tea LOL.
Depending on the condition of the cables is to wether to replace or not, but I have heard of folks using the old ones, only for them to snap on re tightening. So for the £15.00 you can get a set on ebay, is it worth it?
The padding (rubberised Horse hair, Companies now use similar sized foam instead) is another issue aside, as the bag that it fit into often disintergrates, so if your handy with sewing machine you may have to repair or make one up completely.
It has been done by lots of members, so is worth having a go if you dont need to use the car for a couple of days or so while you install.

Hope this helps
