Post Head Gasket Job Starting Trouble!

Have my whole fist in my mouth at the moment which is making tying difficult. Finished my head gasket change today and after putting it all back together, the car is turning over but not firing.
I made sure that the punch mark on the cam shaft sprocket was in line with the front of the head. I lined up the crankshaft notch with the mark on the cover and I jigged around with the intermediate shaft for a bit to get the rotor arm lined up with position 1.
I have a slight suspicion that the battery is a little low on juice as it's been out of the car for a couple of weeks, so thats on charge. But I thought I'd post for other ideas rather than wait and find out it's not the battery and have to wait again for replies!
If I'd lined something up wrong and a piston and a valve made contact it would be a noticable noise right?

Hi,best to time the crank up by lining the notch up on the flywheel with the notch on the gearbox,if the belt is a few teeth out it shouldnt bend anything, the cam mark is a bit vague,if in doubt get the tippex out!

Just had the rocker cover off again and had another go lining everything up.
Big question, there are 2 marks on the crankshaft one on the inside, that is a notch, one on the outside that appears to be more like a triangle. Which one is supposed to be lined up with the mark on the cover?
I'm really hoping to drive home for christmas and it's looking more and more likely i'm going to be taking the train.

When you say two marks do you mean on the camshaft sprocket, if so line the mark on the inside with the rocker cover ware it bolts to the head.
line the crankshaft sprocket with the mark on the lower cover make sure distrbutor is on cyl 1 and she should run.

Double double checked the timing this morning all ok, then cranked it like hell and after about 2 minutes it started going!!
