Low lumpy idle but pulls great?

Hi,

My gti cab pulls and runs great but the idle has steadily been getting lower and more lumpy. The other day the RPM dropped so much that it cut out. I've upped the idle speed about 3 times over the past 8 months and it seems ok but steadily drops again. The lumpy idle has also gotten abit worse. It's had new plugs, leads, dizzy cap, fresh oil, set the air sensor plate to 0.004" all the way round.

Any ideas?

what air filter/feed have you got? the idle screw could just be loosening itself. mine runs like that with the piper x airbox. basicly idles lean on warm up but goes like a rocket.

Sounds like a knackered warm up regulator. Mine's been doin the same for about a year

How can i test the warm up regulater? Forgot to say that it does it sporadically….sometimes it can be fine for 70% of the time it isn't.

There's a plug on the front of it which you pull of and test with a multimeter. You test the wire side for voltage and the WUR side for resistance but i dont know the values off the top of my head. It tells you in a haynes manual. They refer to it as the Pressure Regulator I think.
