Engine idle after starting
When i start my car, it seems only to want to idle at about 200rpm, but when the car is warm it idles ok.
Would i be correct in thinking that it could be the warmup regulator??
Thanks
Dave

Do you also have a problem where after it's been for a run and left for 10-15 minutes it takes at least 10 minutes to start? yet if left for a couple of hours it'll start as normal (still idling low though)?

There is a auxiliary air value round the back of the engine under the inlet manifold, that bleeds air in to increase rpm whilst the engine warms up. It works by using an electrical element and can be tested by removing and connecting to 12v, mine appears to work OK and the hole closed up. Also the WUR feeds in more petrol when cold until warmed up by the engine block. Later Cabriolets have extra gubbins to stabilize the idle so looks like VW was aware of problems. The other check you can do is make sure the timing and CO are with limits thats what I?m going to do next?. If the intended lets me play with my cars instead of working on the house? the whole idea of buying a nearly new house was that it didn?t need anything doing to it???? Women!!!! Watch this space.

That gives me some things to have a look at over the weekend.
I have not had trouble starting it after it being stoped for a few mins, but will try this out too.
Thanks again
