cylinder misfiring and the car is "flooding"

The cylinder closest to the cold start valve (far left) is misfiring. If the car is running and I remove the HT lead for this cyclinder then the engine sound does not change - hence the cylinder is not firing.

Often the car does not turn ON. I keep trying and then eventually turns ON and I can smell fuel - like as if the engine was flooding. Also, the car judders at low revs during pick-up (1st gear) and then pulls OK - like as if one cyclinder is not working.

Compression test on the suspect cyclinder measured 140. All others was 160. So slightly weak but within spec.

Removed the fuel injector, turned the car and there is fuel being sprayed out - so the fuel injector is working.

Removed the spark plug, recconected the plug, turned the car and I can see a spark at the spark plug tip - so the dizzy and HT lead are OK.

What can be wrong? Fuel pressure? Since its the furthest cyclinder away. i have done everything - new fuel filter, replaced fuel pump, changed plugs, new HT leads, new dizzy, new rotor, new fuel injectors, replaced warm up reg.

Maybe it's a burnt exhaust valve. Can you apply pressure or hold pressure in the cylinder while listening to the exhaust? Like with an air compressor and fitting?

Do I remove the spark plug then apply air-pressure thru the spark plug hole? What should I be listening for?

Yes. You are trying keep the combustion chamber full and under pressure while you listen for air escaping. The talepipe would be a good spot to listen or if you have one of those Doctor's things you stick in your ear, then at the exhaust manifold. Does it make smokerings out the taiplipe? Many engines I found burnt valves in, exhaust that is, also make little smoke rings but they were burnt pretty good.
