Bypass thermostat

Hey Guys,
I am trying to accomplish what Devo has done with his mk1 clean engine bay, I removed my heater box and hiding as much as a could but the only thing holding me back is the thermostat housing pipes, I know that 1 piped goes to the front head flang and the second 1 goes to the right side of the head. I noticed the Devo closed the hole on the right side of the head but what happens to the thermostat pipe that is suposed to go there. Q is it just blocked off and if so what is the disadvantage seeing the 1 pipe is a feed and the other a return


This is not being done in South Afica so I would leave it the Pro's to answer
