 My Cabby Really Don't Like The Rain

Hi all,

Now as I'm sure all cabby drivers feel, my car and I really hate the rain, but right now its just becoming rediculous!!!  :(

Firstly I got a puncture while driving in the rain last night, I say rain, I'm not exaggerating when I say flash floods, couldn't see the multiple pot holes that plague Scottish roads and there is a nice tear in my yoko's

Blaming the rain on that maybe me just in a bad mood but after getting the RAC to stick my spare on (I've changed tyres on cars hundreds of time but when its raining sideways thats when your RAC membership comes into play!) I drove home and was forced to drive through a large puddle…

My cabby sure as hell was not happy!  Think the water splashed up on the engine causing the engine to cut out…being patient I waited till it dry'd out and just got it started again, but driving it into work this morning it was making a really nasty ticking noise…

You know the noise, when you hear an old banger driving by and the engine sounds like its about to give up!!!!!!  :banghead:

Yeah the info is vague, and its more like I'm using this forum to moan about rain but was wondering if anyone would know any reason for this ticking?  I'm going to pop round the local garage, but I hate turning up without a bloody clue whats wrong (which if I'm honest is most of the time!)

Cheers Guys…

MOAN THE SUMMER!!!

When does it make the sound… all the time, on accelaration, on overun? If it's suddenly started and mainly when you apply throttle could be an exhaust manifold/downpipe gasket thats gone. If that's the case you should be able to feel gasses escaping around the manifold area.

Cheers markwon for the quick reply!

When driving home the noise became quieter and when I started it this morning it wasn't there, only issue I had was a hideous squeeking fan belt, which is a little embarrassin

I have been told that is due to the a alternator issues? :dontknow:
