urgent!!!! pls read

hi there yesterday i changed oil spark plugs ht leads air filter fuel filter. i took off air box and sprayed engine de-greaser on the top of the carb, think i sprayed a bit too much, charged battery overnight but it still dosent start. it wants to but seems like the battery keeps dying. even push start doesn't do tje trick. any ideas on how to fire it up? it is my daily drive, 1.8 carb mk1 cabrio. thanks  

Are you 1000% sure you put the leads back where they come from :dontknow: . I once wasted half a day trying to get mates mini to run after he had serviced it and he swore on his mothers life that he hadn't mixed them up but guess what…

found the problem!!!!!!! basicaly they sold me a distributer cap and rotor arm for bosch distributer, the person who changed the cap before put the same one on but it never sat properly so i took the car to euro parts and they saw my old cap and gave me same one, the rotor arm for the new cap doesnt fit my distributer because itstoo wide at the base. my old rotor arm has a notch inside and that has broken so the rotor arm doesnt spin now. on monday i need to go back to euro parts and get the cap that fits old rotor arm and a new rotor arm. thanks anyway  

Dont spray de greaser in the carb! Get proper cleaner of you will mess it up!

Get carb cleaner, ?1 a tin, get 2 when cleaning carb, if you want to clean carb correctly, remove it, keep it upside down whilst cleaning, once done  leave it to dry, this prevents any dirt in there getting back into the carb
