Intermitent juddering!?

Hi.

Was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this for me!

I'v got a Mk1 clipper cabriolet. When it runs well, it's great! However, every now and again when I get in to drive, it judders really bad, almost to the point of kangarooing untill I change into a higher gear, then it's ok for a second or 2 then starts again untill I change up again, etc.

Now, if I have the choke out, it doesn't judder and I can still build speed fine but obviously I don't want to drive around with the choke out for ages!

As said, it doesn't do this all the time, just every now and again so it's difficult to show someone what it does as I can't predict when it's going to happen!

It's a 1.8 with a weber conversion.

Hope someone can help!

I had a similar problem where it would judder like mad, but only at the beginin of a jurney, but some times ot would last nearly 15 min (on the moter way)

any way it turned out to be the return spring on the brake, it was weak from years of returning the brake,

any way i havent realy fixed it, i'm just forever lifting the brake pedel from underneath with my foot.

Hmmmm, I haven't tried the brake thing.

I never even considered it could be that tbh because of how it improved if I pulled the choke out?

Instantly thought it was fuelling issue.
