fuel filter
retraced our steps and put the old fuel filter back and ran like a dream, the problem i have now is sourcing the right fuel filter.
searched the web but found nothing to match the old 'Mahle' filter.
any suggestions on a fuel filter that works?
cheers

Tank
Had similar problems in the past with the last two of my mk1's, there is always something in them either rust/dirt or some other old crap in that causes problems.
Have you checked the fuel filler leading to the tank any corrosion etc….on my current mk1 looks like someone changed the filler neck but didnt clean the tank. My filler looked solid and fairly new but there was still alot of crap in there which I only discovered after rough running when fuel level was low.
All the best

Don't know how it got there, tank looks newish and clean but the sender filter must have been broken at some point cause is no longer attached to the sender.
But the problem only started when tank was full to the brim.
but got some larger paper fuel filters on the way, and looking for a resonably priced sender. hopefully this will sort it, if not a tank clean is on the cards.
thanks for everybodies advice.
