i never use it on hydraulic tappets as it does excatly what it says on the tin, and there for the tappets will be dryer first time u start it up, there for are getting metal on metal wear, but thats my thoughts,

Engine flush helps hrdraultic tappets by clearing the oil ways to them and helping them expand more quickly, taking up the slack. The metal on metal is not a major concern as the tappet faces will have oil on them for the first startup from when you poor the new oil in the rocker cover. exactly the same as fixed tappets.
I use engine flush and it dramatcally reduces tappet noise from cold.
