92 Clipper running fast and missing at cruise speed.

I have no problems with the car starting it's always been a first turn start. Alomst weird really it seems to start without your normal turning over noise…if that makes any sense. anyway, that's by the by.

about 1500 rpm when first running, then drops below 1000, but when warmed up increases to 2500rppm, but drove okay. Last journey I went on I accelerated past a wagon and as it hit higher speed it just started missing, let off to a cruising speed about 50-60 but kept missing. Gave it less and less juice to see if it would cruise but missing all the way down the gears til stop in layby.
When you turn engine off it over runs a good few seconds like a tractor then does a blowback through the carb i guess.

Pulling off again it seemed fine up through the gears, but hit 50-60 top gear missing again back to stop.

trip home on back of AA truck. because they never want to fix anything anymore.

any suggestions would be greatly received…the only problem is I can't work on the car because of parking permit laws etc.

anyone recommend someone in/near CHESTER.

/First post big problems…start as I mean to go on.

Sounds like it could be a rusty filler neck and/or muck in the fuel system causing fuel starvation. First thing is check your fuel filler neck for rust and holes, especially the top of the neck where it's screwed to the to rear quarter panel. Also check the fuel filter for debris.
