1.5 GX engine tuning?
I've read the posts on the carb upgrade, so i'm gonna start hunting down the weber twin choke for it.
The car is surprisingly quick and i'm pretty impressed by how much power the little engines got. I'm 99% sure it hasnt been played with in the past.
Can anyone shed a little light on what the GX was intended for? As I see it as a bit of an old skool version of the Golf mk5 V5………..
Thanks

If you dump it or break it i will buy some bits off you
I have brought a twin choke weber off a 1.6 scirocco thanks to best mate tomo320 and i will put it on asap, the pierburg standard carb is crap, just like the old astras, change the carb and a quick tune up,the gti head is a bad idea, too many complications, its injected for a start.

I know the carbs come from a Citroen bx 1.6 or a pug 309 1.6, is the scirocco 1.6 one the same?

Loads of cars ran the twin choke down draft Weber. The code you are looking for in the scrappy on the carb is "DMTL". They came in 32/34 and 32/36 formats.
All you do is change the jets, emulstion tubes and air correctors to suit your engine application. This is best done specifically to your car at a rolling road but a quick search of the internet will give you some known good Jet combinations.
If you want big performance you could do worse than fitting a high lift cam and a tubular exhaust manifold (any item for a Mk1 GTI will bolt straight onto the GX).
