Mk2 Gti 16v

Just thought I'd share my latest purchase with you… I had one about 5 years ago and regretted selling it ever since!

Its a 1990 big bumper Gti 16v,It's totally standard apart from the exhaust (which I'm putting back to standard) and the G60 steels (i still have the original ra's but the tyres were shot!)

Its had 4 previous owners and has a genuine 105k, it drives like new!

If you ever get the chance, buy one, they are class!

I'm hopefully getting the Mk1 painted in the next month or so, so I'll update my thread as soon as I have some news.. :wink:

I have insured mine on classic insurance, and I'm only running it through summer, so its really cheap motoring..

This may seem a bit of an odd question but has it always been a 16v? It should have elec windows,or have they been swapped for windie ones at some time!

It has always been a 16v, i'm not sure why it doesn't have electric windows, it does have power steering though…

It's going into hibernation soon, so I can focus on my mk1 resto.

Yeah thats strange why it doesnt have them,all 16v`s had elec windows and cntrl locking as standard!

If u are interested though,i have everything to convert one to elec windows,just stripped them out of my mates black 16v we just broke,absolutely everything u need and all gen VAG stuff.I was going to advertise them on another mk2 site this week!

Thanks for the offer on the electric window kit, but I quite like the winders…

brings back memories. i loved mine, completely abused it and it never let me down… if i could get another at the right money, i'd snap it up!!  yours looks great by the way.  i would like to see a classic set of bottletops on it, but it looks just great.

Since my last update, i have put a set of gaz coilovers and goodyear f1's all round..(other than the suspension its still standard)

I also gave it a wash

very tidy, nice motor :-)
