Toad's Mk1 Golf Cabby Project
bout time I had another dub
i get to drive this for all of 10 days before it goes into hibernation, but i will have plenty of time to do the minimal work
Picked it up for next to nothing. MOT'd and Taxed
Needs a few bits of bodywork, dings, and surface scabs sorting
Plans include
Porsche Design 90's fully polished (acquired, awaiting delivery)
Full Clipper Kit (acquired)
full coilover kit
maybe vauxhall brakes
bodywork
repaint.
sort interior
badgeless grille and headlight upgrade
new bonnet
new rubbers

can anyone tell me what the existing wheels are called and how much they are worth, as these will be going/swapped/px'd
few pics for now

And I hate to point it out as it's not on your list, but the side tensioner cables (or at least the one I can see) has gone the distance - you'll probably want to replace it. :dontknow:
Also, which vauxhall brakes were you going to put on? There are endless VW options for upgrading them

winter wheels will be a set of 15" teledials refurbed in black
D90's will be summer rims.
the existing wheels will be sold to fund the adapters i guess
and thanks for the comments
as for the brakes…havent really given it much though…brakes are shit at the mo….gonna see whats in the scrap yards soon. mite do a rear disc conversion too..just missed out on one on ebay grr

Unless you're going for more power the existing calipers should be fine with a Master Cylinder and Servo from a 16v MkII Golf - really popular mod and pretty easy to do apparently. Should firm up the pedal feel and reduce the travel needed.
You can put GTI discs and Pads on too as well as braided hoses which will all help making the brakes feel a bit more reassuring too.
Check the linky on the left for a bit of info on the M/C + Servo swap
The rear disc conversion is a right old can of worms on these forums though

LOL yes a e plate cabby.
It was advetised on here, went and got it the other day.
Bit of a wreck tbh, as its been vandalised/attempted theft!
Needs all glass, driver seat, hood, dash, colum, lockset.
On the plus side it has full chrome grille, side strips, bumpers etc
