Project Rat - THe Hof - Mini update

Well i'm back in a MK1.. Bought off fleecebay and after huge trek to get it.. its home.. was described as mint, but isnt, well unless yo compare to a polo, the mint with a hole  :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:

The HOF as he's now being called, is a small bloack, 1.3 CL 5dr..

So as you can see, looks mint.. Must have taken them hours to get the angles right.. lol

Been meaning to take updated pics etc for a while, but keep forgetting too.. doh

But Ratting it up

You're ratting it up then, there'll be a companion for my silver 5 door.

It'll take a lot of catching up but I'm looking forwards to the in progress shots. :wink:

Well up to now, I've found a nasty hole in the rear quarter that looked like a welded patch, but it was a piece of metal stuck down with silicone then painted over.. Why do people do this???



So I decided to go for a true rat look, its cheap to do and cost effective and I havent seen a proper one in the UK, although as I'm a HUGE tight budget there probably will be one by the time mines done..


so first off, got hold of some cheap P Slot wheels, ok they are from a MK2, but look better untill i find some decent rims..
then a second hand lowering springs..

here's a few pics of that looking better

then a trip up to see my good friend Richard at Crazyquiffs and raid his stock for some totally old mis matching seats, found a single brown one and a cool black one, so thought that'd be cool.. and of course a couple of his stickers

as you can see they look pretty rubbish with the blue colours….

But its early days on the project next..

Next I got hold of a scrap bonnet and decided to play with it a little..

Involved an angle grinder, sand paper, water and sun, then hammerite..

whats your thoughts, need to do more to car yet tho for it to take effect fully

although now I'm thinking i need to do the whole bonnet, not just the edges

I now need to get some new top mounts fitted next week as the ones on are shot.

Still not laquered the bonnet so its more orange today and looking well cool and rusted. not got any news pics tho, will see what its like tomorrow
