Painted at last . Pictures .
Good stuff that 2 Pack 8) Needed . The shine from the spray gun is amazing , i am quite pleased with the painting for a DIY job . The spider who decided to absiel down on the roof while i was painting is drying nicely Leaves me the rest of the winter to put the car back together .
Morale of the story if your car has a fuel leak don't take it off the road for a quick repair , it leads to a full strip down and repaint 8O [ 14 Months later ]
Cheers…………

Is that the finish from the gun or have you mopped it?
Reminds me of when mine was at that stage!

8O looks great chudd!
now why can't I have a garage that size and spray the whole lot at the same time!… looks like I'll be doing mine again next year, just need to get a larger compressor so I can use a sander to take it back easily

Thats the finish from the gun about 2 hours after it's last coat . I have a defect on the roof to re do [ Bloody Spider  ] and will leave mopping with Felisatti compound when its all fitted up eg bare shell with doors back on etc …

That looks brilliant! Just out of curiosity what breathing gear did you use and was it expensive?

Hi
I purchased a "Willson" air fed mask and run it off my 14 Cfm 150 litre compressor with no problem . The mask was new on ebay delivered for ?80.00 [retail at about ?130.00] i did my home work first and would only recommend buying new for safety reasons .
The only thing i had to do was regulate the air to the mask at 35 psi using a simple guage so the spray gun still gets a full 60 psi .

Good one!
I am also interested in any info - like how you learned to spray paint.
I take it you ran the mask from the same compressor that ran the spray gun.

Very nice, bet your well chuffed. Can't wait till mines at that stage. Once bodyworks finished it must give you so much enthusiasm… you'll probably have it finished in 5 secs!
Do you have a lot of pics of your resto online, would be great to see a few more of the rear arches if you have any

Thanks for the nice comments guys ops:
To answer a few questions .
The colour is mars red no1 L13A .
This is not my first attempt at painting , i have painted a few cars at home [3] but never used 2 pack paint just cellulose . What the hell have i been missing ! Its great stuff and covers so well and 2 pack primer has no shringage and flats down beautifully . I have a few dirty bits in the paint but am confident that compounding will remove them as they are minor , the garage was well cleaned prior to use but i suppose a plastic booth made in the garage would have been better . My compressor happily ran both the spray gun and the air fed mask , its rated at 14cfm , 3 horse power with a 150 litre tank to give you an idea .
This is all self taught , i have Haynes excellent "Bodywork repair manual" and have practiced on and old bonnet with various paints following the books advice and what counts most is that my paint supplier unlike most gives superb advice over the counter and is always available if i get stuck . The secret is in the prep work  Smooth primer coat = good top coat . But it has taken me about 4 weeks on and off to do . Car painters deserve credit for there hard work .
If you are going to paint your car -this cost me ?322.00 in materials-give it ago but FOLLOW THE SAFETY PROCEDURES with 2 pack paint
Cheers…….
