My new All White GTi Cabriolet

And finally, got a bit bored so bodged a photo up in Pain (so professional!) to show how the red trim will look when I manage to find some!!

Crazy quiffs want ?50 for a second hand red trim set or ?75 for new. I couldn't believe it! I might just get out the Humbrol and do it myself

I'm planning on getting rid of that Momo steering wheel and perhaps going for the 4 button GTi or a leather one off of a corrado etc.
The crappy plastic covering the vdo holes has to go too. Apart from that he's a belter!

Seats are in good nick too which is pretty good for white.
Do you know the side tension cables have snapped or are missing in your hood? That's why it bows up at the sides. They can probably be replaced without removing it though.
I will shortly have a 4 button steering wheel going spare, not leather and doesn't say GTI in the centre if you're interested.

Yeah the seats are in great condition, there's a tiny cig burn in the left rear seat and the drivers bolster has been sown up and is leaking foam as we speak, but other than those small issues the trim is fantastic. Unfortunately the roof leaked last night and I now have a skanky brown patch on the drivers seat, but i'll wet vac that out.
The hood is the original vinyl one and the tension cables look pretty rusty and knackered. Apparently there is a guy around my way who'll replace them for ?25, but that's pretty much bottom of the list atm

Things I have to sort are:
Speedo
Clutch cable ripped through bulkhead (but still works!)
Timing
Coolant flush (it's just water, dirty water at that)
Rusty rear window frame
Irritating vibration in passenger door, clips missing.
I also think the roof needs adjusting as it's leaking near the handles? I'll start a seperate thread panicking about that one

Thanks for the steering wheel offer, but I'm afraid I'm ideally after a leather one. As for the gauge cover, YES PLEASE! How many pennies are you asking my friend?

Rich, what's the difference between a Quartet and an All White? I had wondered about it's 'All White' status as I believe it is too late a model to be one?
Just need this effing rain to stop now so I can enjoy the weekends in it.

Good looking cab there - Think it is a Quartet rather than an All White.
Cheers

Newbie

I'm very new to this so dont know if you're still a member.
Wondered if you could give me a bit of advice? I've just got myself a lovely little mk1 cabriolet in need of some TLC especially the frame and hood. I've searched the internet and the hunt for the hood is easy but i'm finding it difficult to find the frame. Any ideas?
