my mk1 resto

hello! just thought i would post some pictures of my mk1, im slowly restoring the body work, i have owned my mk1 for 4 years now, i think i have done  a reasonable amount considering im only 15! so far i have:

put a complete new front panel on
2 new wings
new bonnet
new rear arches
yet to put on 2 complete sills
and (if i can find one) a small light rear panel
i have also resprayed most of the front end.

Good effort on the car mate keep it up.As things progress wack on somemore pics.
I'd keep the original big rear lights if I were you,I don't think they look right when they have been altered with a later reg on them but that is just my opinion.

lovely work going on and only 15... good for you... great choice for a first car. this will be a lovely car once completed and hopefully all ready for when you can drive.. and its a four door as well, something a little different, I like it.

i thought i'd add some more pictures of what i have been upto, im putting a new sill on at the moment,,,

niiice stuff! i dont really get cars at all but i know i love a good mk1 Golf! looks awsome! dont give up!

iv got the new rear panel in place, just got to weld it in. then i can finally spray the whole car!

well, i forgot all about this thread!

got it finished 5days before RTTS it drove there and back with no probs after being sat for years!

very nice, you done a good job on her, wouldnt mind a project myself again just havent got a garage

 i love driving it, much better than my 6n polo.
the insurence was quite a bit cos im only 19.
still got loads on plans for it, change interior, bigger engine+brakes, tidy and paint the engine bay

well, now i have almost every part i need to get the mk1 how i want, just got to fit them.
1st thing, engine out ready for the 1.8 8v go to in.


gti engine fully rebuilt and painted almost ready to go in

engine bay semi-smoothed, ill be running the wiring loom through inner wing etc

also have g60 front brakes, to go on. hoping to get the car done for next months VW players.
