My Formel E

As you can tell its a MK1 Formel E and was completely original including all original glass 8) Came with a service book full of stamps and an old Formel E promotional brochure! It's in lovely condition, no major rust, just a little around the number plate lights and the edge of the boot lid.
Time for some pics.

Fitted some of these too..

Unfotunately my alternator has died so cant take any more recent pics but hopefully will be sorted soon.
(If anyone has a replacement alternator for sale that would be awesome)
Hope you like it

What's wrong with the alternator? Have you checked the brushes?
BTW what Mk2 Polo did you have? I've got a Mk2 breadvan that I'm using as my daily, they're great little cars.

Wow, that's a beauty! There's not much you could do to improve on the original look apart from the ride height and possibly wheels if that's your thing, the rest of it looks perfect to me. 8)

Yep pretty much my plans really, gunna look for some wheels to refurb over winter ready for the sun

Battery light came one and wasnt charging, my friend checked it over and reckons the alternators had it. How can i check the brushes?
Yeah i had a breadvan too! Awesome cars, mines still sitting on my driveway, trying to sell it

Swapping Voltage regulator
Your alternator will not be identical to that one in the guide but when you look at yours it'll be straight forward to remove the regulator.
Your Mk2 Polo alternator should have the same regulator so assuming the battery light isn't on on the Polo, swap the Polo regulator over to the Golf. If that cures the problem and the light goes out you just need to buy a new regulator (about £10 on ebay).

Been previously having running issues so swapped the Solex out for a Dellorto from Crazyquiffs.

After a tune + timing this sorted the problems but everytime I fix one, another seems to begin

The engines been running reasonably well, MPG has improved but still feels like its holding back, all revs but no go!
Been contemplating swapping the 1.1 to a mk2 1.3 but really want to keep the engine original if I can.
Moving on, the dash trims are in (cheers mk1turbo)

Also been busy with some paint. The rear panel was looking really nasty with the bottom half covered in black stone chip so I thought I'd smarten her up a bit

Before

After

Not perfect but better than before I think. She's going to need some welding soon however as the metal around the number plate lights is rotten

So as she stands now

If anyone in the Norfolk area has a suitable 1.3 engine for sale let me know please!

I saved this table a while back, I think it was from Club Polo but it's quite hand for reference and identifying engines:

I'd be interested in your steel wheels if you plan to sell them once your cookie cutters are fitted.
Keep up the good work!

Hmm..I'll have a think about the wheels as I'm not entirely sure about the cookies. They stick out a little too much on the front and I dont like the look of loads of tyre stretch!

Yeah I've test fitted them and I really like the look of them, just a shame its hard to get a pair of 6 wides for the front!

Finally got some tyres on the cookie cutters! Went for 165/50 Bridgestones and they stretch a treat

Did a quick test fit as I still need to get my tracking sorted and some spigot rings. Gunna swap my rear spacers for some 25mm ones as they look a little lost compared to the front!

Mighty tempted to look into a stainless exhaust, need some raspyness in my life
