my floppy top

it failed on emissions, rear suspension not secure (i hadnt done 1 bolt up tight enough) steering rack insecure ( the weld that holds the bracket on had begun to crack giving abit of movement, quite common apparently) and n/s sill needed abit of welding done, this was because sum1 had had a go at weldin a plate on it before very badly and only spot welded it on, so it just needed a constant weld to passs the mot… or so i thought, when i took the skirt of this is what i saw:

oh lord i thought, this isnt going to be pretty, and it wasnt, this is how it ended up

it appears that at sum point in its life its had quite a whack as there's nearly an inch of filler in the quater so just to get it thru the mot i patched it up and put a gob load more filler in

also this is the steering rack bracket thats been welded

and finally got these a couple of weeks ago, now all repaired and primered waiting for a full paint, cheers Hoppygti

not all that interesting but its all what we need to do to keep these old cars on the road, will update once the resto begins, likely after GTI festival

thanks for looking
