My first MK1 GOLF GTI

Hey Everyone,

Been reading all your posts on here for ages and taking note. Finally took the plunge and bought a MK1 GTI on eBay this week. Picking her up on Sunday. Very excited
As I have wanted one forever. Its in need of a restoration so for the next 6 ? 12 months that?s what I will be doing.

It?s had an engine conversion to a 2.0 GTI Audi 80 engine.

Not sure to be honest, depends what it?s like when I pick it up. Just strip it all down and treat / replace any rusty parts to start with then take it from there. Find out what it needs for the MOT.

Might get it repainted, depending on what it look like after the initial clean and polish.

Shame it doesn't have a grille surround, they're getting hard to find and that will eat up the budget! Also, the wings look like they have side repeaters? Apart from that, it looks like a pretty complete car, which is always a bonus as a starting point. Good luck with the resto!

Got it for ?410 on ebay.  I want a 4 light grill with the GTI badge and red trim if anyone has one?

Some one added side repeaters at some point. No idea why. But i'm sure I can sort that out.

Looks like a good starting point, I'm not sure why any one would retro fit side repeaters though!!

I picked up a red surround grill last night for ?5 happy days
