My black daily Mk1

So, its a 1.3 driver, 4 speed powahh! Is quite nippy though.
Got home with not much wrong on the way back, temp went up abit as we got stuck in traffic but nothing much to worry about.
Anyway lets get a few pics up.

body is quite sound, however i need new jacking points as they have gone abit rotten

Interior is very good, just a tiny biy faded:

the part we all want to see.

little 1.3 beast

Bought a few things for it, new top mounts, coilovers, wishbones (still not fitted) and some volkswagen engraved chrome handle inserts for the doorhandles.
coilovers went on and it stayed pretty standard for a while till i sourced some wheels.

i did buy some BBS RMs and was going to rebuild them 8" all round with stainless dishes etc but with the price they were going to cost me i decided to look for something else already made up.
Saw the wheels i wanted ages ago but had no money for them, luckily for me they were still for sale.so a few PMs were made and i arranged to go and pick them up one sunday.
So off to Hull i go to meet the seller. Top bloke. AS my brakes were too wide, and the wheels being a high offset they hit the calipers so Lee started to grind my calipers down to make them fit. totally wasnt expecting this but i really wanted the wheels and he wanted them on my car

Got home and put them on with the spacers i had just bought (10mm_ but i couldnt lower the car down

lee at work

outcome:

Then they came off again as i didnt fancy driving home in them while the weather was still terrible, and then they sat in my room (which is small) for a month and a bit.
The plan was to put them on teh day before Ultimate Dubs, mainly cause i didnt know what the weather was going to be like and didnt fancy running them in the snow but the weekend before UDs i had to trial fit them and sort it all out and also get the camber and tracking all set up. So i got them on and left them on all week before the show.

I know it may sound big headed but i absolutely love it. Think it looks awesome, such a different from the standard wheels.
Anyway it went for tracking and camber the following friday which took a whopping 4 hours

I then reluctantly let them use the sills as it had to be done, i was stood by them the whole time though. were a good set of lads and apparently had Mk2s with VR6s in them and stuff so thought i was in good hands. still no joy with the sills as he could tell they werent strong enough. more scratching of heads until he came up with jacking it up using the gearbox/mount

So now it just needed a wash before the show. Nothing major just a shampoo and a dry off as it wasnt going in the show or anything just in the car park, dont know if many people saw it there, got a few pics off other people though:
like this the best though:

and a few rolling shots:

So thats it at the moment. Plans are new engine or a 5 speed gearbox but might aswel put a new engine in hadnt i?

oh and sort the bodywork out, few rust bits on the door.
i also need some proper chrome strips as mine are the cabby ones and i dont really like them. Do the thin ones fit that are just the chrome, no plastic bits around them?
opinions welcome

I've got myself a mars red one, drive 65 miles a day in it. and they are fun

a word of warning, i put a 5-speed box on, and yes it makes a massive difference (70mph = 3,100rpm instead of 4,000) mechanical advantage means that the car is somewhat slower than it was.. and all 4 cylinders work now

and yes, the thin strips fit the same as the thicker ones
PS. if you want an exhaust i can put you in touch with a chap who did mine, looks awesome

I dont know how to fix it as my speedo is like 40mph at 70mph

Now 110mph is 70mph

Have no idea how to get it abit more respectable which is another reason i have to rag it everywhere to get up to speed.
Someoen said there is a cog on teh gearbox that i can replace but i have no clue when it comes to under the bonnet so dont know where this cog is to get it fixed

Lee really puts some thought into each set of wheels I've seen on his car. Went over to collect an exhaust from him last year and he had some stunning 15x9 RSs on his Golf - they fitted like 7s!

I need some polo gt carriers though if anyone has any as i have some gti brakes which he said should fit better and work without grinding anything off the calipers to get the wheels to fit.
and re: the exhaust, i need a full system, or at least the middle section as it seels to blow. But could do with a shiny back box

cheers

yeah i know but it doesnt come with a charger and a few other bits and im now not sure about a g40, heard a few stories about them always breaking more than anything else. Either that or a G60 i want. G40 will be 'easier' as wont have to mess about with too many mounts in the engine bay but not sure :/

How it started:

seats and centre console out

Scratch marks on the floor from my car

Carpets out:

thankfully from my eye there was no noticeable bad points on the top to worry about.
half stripped racer look?

however all this was wasted as the guy who was doing it injured him arm the day before and wasnt in work the friday. so they're gonna have to wait a week now cause i cant be bothered to take it all out and in again this week before DC.
When putting it all back in i was contemplating leaving the centre console out but the hole where the gearstick is is massive and the gator had nowhere to stick to so decided to put it back in.
not exactly great knowing your seats are held in by one small bolt though it is?
