MK1 - Down under - For sale (How much is this worth in UK)
I thought I'd start a build thread showing the highs and lows working on and owning a MK1.
I've been on this forum for a few weeks now and already had some excellent advice from members. Thanks
As some of you may be aware I'm a pommie currently living in Melbourne. I bought this car without seeing it from Brisbane.
I thought it would only take a couple of weekends to do the necessary jobs to make it safe for a roadworthy - (MOT)
I was wrong, combined with quite a few issues and waiting for parts to be shipped from around the world it's taking a little longer than first thought but I'm nearly there!
Jobs I've done so far include.
* New rear brake cylinders
* Rebuilt seized front calipers with new seals from Biggred
* Changed all fuel lines within engine bay
* Rebuilt Carb
The body work itself is in good condition for it's age although there seems to be a poor repair job to the RHS inner wing thats rusting!!!

I may have to have some repair work done in order to get a roadworthy, but I'll wait and see what they say!
Future plans.
* Get the beast on the road and use it as fun car whilst maintaining in spare time.
* Long term plans include full strip now, period colour respray lowered on BBS rims, standard interior and add some exterior chrome work.
* 16V engine
* Total rebuild on a similar scale to " carbs4ever" That is one nice car! Lovely attention to detail! 8O
These are "Long term plans though" !)
Hope you enjoy!

Cheers

After discovering some rust in the floorpans (The rest of the body is good!) I decided to put the MK1 up for sale as I have no access to welders etc.
I do however have the opportunity to bring it back to the UK sometime over the next couple of years.
My question is how much would this car be worth back in the UK?
Thanks

I'm no expert, but I had a low mileage 5 door 82 GL a few years back that was in really good nick (although it had been stood for quite a while).
I couldn't find anyone to take it off my hands! In the end I stripped the bits off it I wanted to keep and sent it to the scrap yard. Real shame but I needed the space.
So in short - I'd say it will only have 'worth' to you!

If you can't get any money for it then please send it my way!
