Mk1 cab from Cape Town , South Africa
Hi guys. I'm from South Africa,Cape Town.
I'm actually into the Toyota's but thought i can share my brother's Mk1
cab with you.
He first had a black MK1 2 door and i was driving past a car sale one day and saw the orange cabby before i locked my brakes.
Anyway….2 days from that day she was my brother's car.
Then he started with small mods.
He done alot of mods replacing bumpers and interior.
Here's a few pics.
Hope you enjoy.
He's first black 2 door ^^
This is how she looked when he got her ^^
This is how she looks now ^^

My opinion - The small wheels look great and i think the handling will be better <- Correct me if i'm wrong.
But we in south africa like it big.
Just a question. Is there any particular reason why you guys use small wheels?
Is it for handling or looks…..?
But all the MK1's look pretty even without wheels..hehe

I love the old skool 13" look but the truth is that here in SA it just wouldnt work
Our rds r the worst cos MP's take home massive paycheques and neglect everything the general public needs eg: the state of our rd's and public transport
My opinion is that the perfect size for SA is a 15" but its all too common too so thats why the guys here go for the 17's.
It also means that ur willing to spend/hav a bit more money
Take my cabbie for example, if i had 15's on my 40mm drop I would have to get rid of the VR6 lip which I dont wanna do so its kinda tricky.
I have seen what the Chavs do to cars and yes it is reckless, not tasteful at all and an abomination of many car lover's appreciation to a certain make to the fullest.
We do get them here aswell but dont really have a name for them as such.
So i just call them a DOOS-pronounced "doo-is" cos I know how a British person would say it as I lived there for a lil while ( its a word we use here that means idiot/moron in afrikaans )
My 2 cents worth 8)
PS: the orange is wicked & thank GOD its not rice

Are they 17" alloys? I've got 16" Porsche Design 90's on my Rivage cab. They are the biggest i'd go. It must be down to personal taste, but any bigger than 16" and I think they start to lok out of propotion to the car. The other reason that I chose the Porsche rims are that are very similar the original VW Le Castelet alloys. Here's mine,
The rims are alloy Wheels.

Basically double what u paid for it i think and then sum.
I know what u mean about them being so affordable in the UK tho!
I have been doing alot of searching on Ebay and there are alot of nice examples for a project to say the least 8O
U Brits have it so good man i swear
U might think im being stupid but seriously if we had to even try half the things u guys r doing there we would be pennyless
